EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO IIM KOZHIKODE

On 5th August 2025, 45 students from Christ College, Irinjalakuda — ABC B.Com Finance batch — visited IIM Kozhikode

Museum Visit – A Walk Through India’s Evolution

Our visit began with a guided tour of the museum, which is thoughtfully divided into eight thematic sectors:

  • Public Sector
  • Business sector
  • Banking sector
  • Pre-Independence sector
  • Post -independence sector
  • Influential Ancient India
  • Colonial india
  • Indian economic history

Each section was visually engaging and informative, providing deep insights into the historical and economic journey of India. It helped us understand the growth of different sectors from ancient times to the modern era.

ISRO Section – Glimpse of India’s Space Aspirations

While exploring the museum, we came across the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) section which was fascinating and futuristic. Highlights included:

  • Space Odyssey
  • Satellite and Their Applications
  • Satellite-Based Business Connectivity
  • Mars Orbiter Missions  ( Mangalyaan)

This section showcased how india has emerged as a space power, making space technology accessible and beneficial for various sectors of society.

Theatre – ISRO Audio-Visual Presentation

We then moved to the theatre, where we witnessed an audio-visual presentation about ISRO. It wasn’t a movie but a detailed presentation covering:

• PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle)

• GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle)

• LVM-3 (Launch Vehicle Mark-3)

The immersive video gave us a strong understanding of India’s major launch systems and how they are used in satellite deployment

Library – The Gurukul Concept in a Digital World

One of the most impressive sessions was at the IIM Kozhikode Library, which is built around the idea of a Gurukul—a blend of Globalisation and Indian Thought. The library is a true reflection of how tradition meets technology:

  • It integrates traditional Indian learning with modern digital access
  • The system is highly automated, using a chip embedded in each book to prevent unauthorized removal
  • If a book is taken without proper checkout, the system automatically detects and alerts using their secure infrastructures. And the library has an annual operating budget of ₹93 crores, emphasizing the value given to academic resources
  • It offers access to 60–65 online databases, making a wealth of academic and research materials available to students.Additionally, there is an open library concept, promoting inclusive and flexible access to knowledge for all learners. This advanced integration of technology, traditional learning, and global academic resources left a lasting impression on us.

Afternoon Session – MBA Awareness Talk

In the afternoon, we attended an engaging session focused on MBA awareness, where we gained valuable knowledge about:

  • The significance of pursuing an MBA after undergraduate studies.
  • How an MBA sharpens leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Insights into specialization options and guidance on preparing for entrance exams like CAT
  • Encouragement to build a long-term vision and develop a growth-oriented mindset.

The session helped many students develop clarity about their career direction and motivated them to consider higher education in business and management.

The scenic campus, academic atmosphere, and interactions during the sessions made this a truly memorable and motivating experience. It has encouraged us to dream bigger and explore deeper into the world of business, space, and higher education.
